Etude with Repeated Notes
33
There are several ways of playing the following group of notes:. In group 1. the first two notes are taken with a glide, down stroke followed by a down stroke, making first three notes with down stroke but only two distinct strokes of the plectrum. In group 2. the third note is taken with an up stroke. In group 3. the notes are all played upon the D string in what is termed 3rd position. These are alternate down and up and is the better way to obtain speed. This will be explained under the head of positions, later in the
book.
